About this book

Women enter convents with wedding dresses, follow strangers through city streets, search family tombs and travel to the Istanbul hotel associated with Agatha Christie. Cristina Fernández Cubas’s stories begin in recognisable settings and quietly allow unease, obsession and the fantastic to take over. With Agatha in Istanbul explores women looking for a place of their own inside marriages, families and narratives whose apparent order conceals another reality. Originally written in Spanish as “Con Agatha En Estambul”, the work appears here in an Arabic translation by Ali Ibrahim Ashqar.
