About this book

Felipe sees corpses throughout Santiago and tries to reconcile them with Chile’s official count of the dead. Iquela and Paloma share an uncertain childhood memory and the legacy of their parents’ political past. When volcanic ash strands Paloma’s mother’s coffin in Argentina, the three set out to retrieve it. Alia Trabucco Zerán’s inventive debut follows a generation born after dictatorship as it confronts the bodies, silences and unfinished arithmetic inherited from those before it. Originally written in Spanish as “La resta”, this is the Arabic edition published by Mamdouh Adwan Publishing House.
