About this book

After his father’s death, Viennese banking heir Jeronimo Frank abandons family tradition for a small Adriatic island, where he reopens an old department store and prepares to marry the island’s most beautiful young woman. A tragic legend attached to the former owner’s wedding begins to repeat itself. Antonio Skármeta combines romance, fable and Central European history in a novel about wealth, poetry and the dangerous persistence of stories. Originally written in Spanish as “Boda del poeta”, the work appears here in an Arabic translation by Saleh Almani.
