About this book

A soldier returns to Germany after the Second World War and finds that there is no home to receive him. His wife is with another man, his parents are dead, and every attempt at a new beginning is rejected. Borchert’s landmark play gives voice to a generation that came home only to remain outside the door. Originally written in German as “Draußen vor der Tür”, the work appears here in an Arabic translation by Samir Grees.
