About this book

After surviving the final days of the First World War, two damaged veterans return to a France eager to honour its dead but unwilling to care for the living. Their audacious memorial scheme becomes a darkly comic indictment of profiteering, patriotism and the society that abandoned them. Originally written in French as “Au revoir là-haut”, the work appears here in an Arabic translation by Hanan Qassab Hassan.
