About this book

Exile is a journey through pain and pleasure, discovery and failure, always shadowed by the planned return to a mother or homeland that may no longer be there. Mamdouh Hamadeh’s stories portray expatriate life without the familiar romantic gloss. Closely grounded in lived experience, they follow people suspended between memories and new routines, testing the emotional costs of distance and the possibility that either the traveller or the imagined home may end before the journey does.
