About this book

Farhan Bulbul offers a contemporary rendering of al-Ma‘arri’s eleventh-century masterpiece, making its intellectual daring, irony and imaginative journey accessible to new generations of Arabic readers. Because The Epistle of Forgiveness was written in response to Ibn al-Qarih, this edition restores that initiating letter and reshapes the classical language without reducing the work’s complexity. It is an invitation to rediscover a foundational text of Arabic prose, satire and speculative imagination.
