About this book

After meeting Serey, a Cambodian musician in exile, sixteen-year-old Anne Greves follows him from Montreal to Phnom Penh when Cambodia’s borders reopen. Her search for the man she loves enters a landscape still marked by the Khmer Rouge and by thousands of unresolved disappearances. Kim Echlin’s lyrical novel joins an intimate love story to the testimony of survivors, exploring memory, political violence and the difficult obligation not to forget. Originally written in English as “The Disappeared”, this is the Arabic edition published by Mamdouh Adwan Publishing House.
