About this book

Land surveyor K. arrives in a village after being summoned by an inaccessible Castle for a purpose no one can clearly explain. Every attempt to confirm his appointment or reach the authorities produces new intermediaries, contradictions and delays. Kafka’s unfinished masterpiece turns administration into a spectral landscape where belonging is endlessly promised and withheld, leaving its protagonist suspended between certainty and doubt, work and exclusion, persistence and exhaustion. Originally written in German as “Das Schloß”, this is the Arabic edition published by Mamdouh Adwan Publishing House.
