About this book

This selection presents Mikhail Bakunin as a central voice in the libertarian current of socialist thought. The texts clarify his disagreements with Marx over authority and freedom and bring together his arguments on revolution, organisation, human nature, the social contract, the state, democracy and elections. Read as a coherent body, they offer an accessible introduction to anarchist principles and to Bakunin’s enduring warning that emancipatory movements can reproduce domination through centralised power. Originally written in English, the work appears here in an Arabic translation by Odai Al Zoubi.
