About this book

Moving through owned, rented and temporary homes in different Syrian cities, Nour Abu Faraj turns domestic spaces into stations from which to reconsider her life and choices. Her autobiographical testimony intersects with the experience of Syria’s 1980s generation, whose relative stability was broken by war and forced displacement. Attentive to rooms, objects and the labour of making a home, the book preserves what is transient while warning against becoming a prisoner of place.
