About this book

Written in 1971, Fernando Arrabal’s open letter addresses Francisco Franco with the personal and moral force of a Spanish exile whose father disappeared under the dictatorship. Family memory, civil-war history and political accusation converge as Arrabal challenges the regime’s official language and demands an accounting for repression. Letter to General Franco is at once testimony, indictment and an act of literary resistance against the silence imposed on Spain’s recent past. Originally written in Spanish as “Carta al general franco”, this is the Arabic edition published by Mamdouh Adwan Publishing House.
