About this book

This collected edition brings together the poetic work of Syrian poet Eyad Shahin, for whom poetry was not an occasional practice but a daily form of existence. His writing is deeply attentive to language, rhythm, metre and the long conversation between classical and modern Arabic poetry. Read as a whole, the poems trace an uncompromising literary life in which observation, doubt and the pressures of the contemporary world are repeatedly transformed into verse.
