About this book

French-Iranian journalist Delphine Minoui returns to Tehran in the late 1990s and spends a decade reporting from a country she knows both intimately and as an outsider. Written as letters to the grandfather who had left Iran, her memoir follows elections, private rebellions, censorship and the Green Movement through encounters with ordinary Iranians. Personal inquiry and political reportage combine in a vivid portrait of a society far more diverse and restless than its official image suggests. Originally written in French, the work appears here in an Arabic translation by Rita Barish.
