About this book

Set among prisoners awaiting execution, this darkly satirical novel follows the final days of a condemned man. Aziz Nesin turns the traditional form of a festival chronicle into a critique of capital punishment and of a society that makes public spectacle of death. Originally written in Turkish as “Surnâme”, the work appears here in an Arabic translation by Abdulkadir abdelli.
