About this book

As young teacher Jacques steps off the train to begin work in a small village, his father boards the same train and disappears. Haunted by the abandonment, Jacques teaches by day and questions the village miller by night, hoping to uncover the secret. A trip beyond the village and an attachment to a gifted student complicate his search. Antonio Skármeta’s warm novella combines coming of age, mystery and the longing for an absent father. Originally written in Spanish as “Un Padre de Película”, this is the Arabic edition published by Mamdouh Adwan Publishing House.
